Review: Make Up For Ever Sculpting Kit (Shade 2)
Now for a simple review of the Make Up For Ever Sculpting Kit (Shade 2)! ^_^
The Sculpting Kit is a set of two compact powders suited to reshape and alter the size of the face using a light and shadow contrast. Using the dark shade in hollow areas reduces the size of the face, while the light shade can be applied to prominent features, helping to emphasize them.
Sculpting Kit Formula
- Mineral powders
- Kaolin based talc
- Ester
Packaging
Like any MUFE products, they are always made in Black, has glossy finish and looks sleek.
At the back of this palette states the Shade number. Mine is Shade #2. There are actually a total of 4 shades available for this Sculpting Kit alone. Shade 2 is name the Neutral Light, suitable for the Asians or anyone who are of similar skin tone.
This product may be pretty big (one palm size) but it's also quite slim, easily to be carried around in a bag.

Due to the lighting, the brown in here may not look the same from the actual product.
The Sculpting Kit comes with a large mirror attached to the underside of the cover. Both powder look matte.
Swatches
The powder feels very finely milled, has a matte finish and the pigment is buildable.
I layered the powder a few times to make it look like the one in the pan.
How to apply
Use two brushes, one for the lighter shade and one for the darker one.
Use the pale shade on prominent areas and the darker shade on hollow areas.
Blend the colors into one another to even out the result and give a natural finish.

Advice
Use the sculpting shades for light and shadow effects (the lighter shade for emphasis and the darker one for hollow areas) to make the face look younger and bring out features, thin out the oval of the face and conceal unflattering areas. On pale skin, use the lighter shade for a matte finish, in the same manner as a standard powder.
Both shades can be used on the eyes for a natural look.
Pro tip: professional make up artists use them to make a face more attractive or transform the performer (change personality or age, show fatigue, etc.).

Review
To be frank, I seldom do face contouring except for only highlighting, and a little big of shadowing at the sides of my nose.
After receiving the Sculpting Kit and tried it out at the Make Up Lesson by MUFE, I now got a little more confident to do face contouring.
In my latest LOTD I attempted to use the Sculpting Kit and here's the pic. Read more about my latest LOTD.
For this day look, I did not layer too much of the brown as I'm afraid I'll really be sculpting my face to look like another face shape and probably also look like I'm cosplaying (Lolx~).
- applied brown at side of my jaws and temples to hide the protruding areas and 'moulding' my face into a sharp V shape (although my face already looks very "V".. haha~)
- applied white on the area slightly above the apples of my cheeks in a wide "U' shape following my lower eye contour
- the shades are very light when brushed once
- it gets deeper and more pigmented when layered on
- the colour builds up nicely and evenly
- both light & dark powder looks matte but both has a teeny weeny bit of satin finish
- highlight powder doesn't enhance my already enlarged pores on my cheeks
- the highlight powder brightens up my cheeks area and also has this 'lifted-up' effect
- the brown powder used for shadowing my jawlines appears subtle
Most of the time I thought that highlight comes in a glittery, glossy or at least a more satin finish kind of formula, however Sculpting Kit is not any of these.
The highlights we often use that have shimmers, glitters or look glossy don't compliment my face as I have flaws that don't allow any of these formulas. Cream highlights enhance my enlarged pores, so much that once I dot them over my cheeks or nose, it basically blew the pores up to double its usual size (visually). For highlights that have shimmers will enhance the bumpy texture (or bumpy pores?) that I have on my nose and at the inner corner of my eyes. Sometimes I got pretty frustrated with highlighting these areas and just end up not highlighting them anymore, since by doing so I will also be highlighting my flaws. Lolx~
Like I'd mentioned, Sculpting Kit doesn't enhance my flaws. Though its powder makes my face appears matte, but it is not powdery kind of matte which don't reflects light. It still have some sheen in it thus when light shines on it, it reflects off in a soft glow.
*Note that I did not use Sculpting Kit on my nose, can see the difference?
As you can see, my cheeks (shown above) doesn't look glossy or glittery like my eyes do, and it doesn't look powdery matte too.
I'd said once, and now I'm saying it again - I'd found my dream face contour palette~ ^_^
