Event: Phytocyane Anti-Thinning Hair Treatments

Have you seen or tried hair products from Phyto before? Nope? Yes? ^_^
As for me, one of Phyto's products - the Sebo-regulating shampoo is actually my holy grail shampoo which had worked wonders for my oily scalp ever since I first bought it years ago.
Today I won't be touching on that product but instead, I'll talk about Phyto's Phytocyane for thinning hair.

Mistakenly believed to be strictly a male's disease, statistics have shown that as many as 45 percent of all women experience hair loss and go through life without a full head of hair.

Phyto offers the best botanical hair loss solution for women's hair loss with 85% effectiveness.

With more than 72 million ampoules sold worldwide, and Singapore alone sold over 600,000 pieces and winning 3 local beauty awards, Phytocyane Revitalizing Thinning Hair Treatment unveils and updated and modern look that takes it to the next generation of scalp and hair care.

Event
It was my first time being introduced to the Phyto's hair loss treatment range.

During the event, there's also a video clip being played repeatedly on the screen. It is one of the video cut from Lady First Singapore (女人我最大-新加坡)

This is the video being played - Lady First program talks about hair scalp and Phyto. (In Mandarin)

Topic aside~ At the Le Restaurant and Asian Tapas Bar (#02-314 Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre) we were served with various dishes and the last dessert served on top of dry ice is pretty cool! I had mango and the other is Avocado and both were super yummy. ^_^

About Hair Life Cycle
At the event, we were infused with the knowledge of hair growth and hair loss. So here I am, imparting some of my knowledge to all of you before I begin with Phyto product introduction. ^-^

In general, an average person has 20 - 25 cycles of hair growth. (eg, we have 2 teeth cycles)
Everyday, we shed around 50 hair strands as it is part of the regular functioning of our scalp and hair's life cycle. There are times we shed a little bit more or less than that amount but the density of our hair will not change because for every hair that we lose, there are new hair growing at the same time.
In the hair life cycle, most of the hair are in the active growth phase. The active (Anagen) phase  normally lasts between 3-7 years and then it will turn into regression (Catagen) phase.
The regression phase is at the state where hair stops growing and the follicle shrinks. This normally lasts 3 weeks.

Thereafter, it turns into resting (Telogen) phase. In the resting phase, hair follicles stops making hair and eventually hair falls out (found in the drain when we shower, in our comb, on your shirt etc). This phase will continue for 3 months before it returns to growing phase again.
For a normal scalp, about 90% of our hairs are usually in the active phase and 10% are in the resting phase.

If the scalp is losing hair more than it is growing, hair loss is then considered excessive.
Women's hair loss (female-pattern alopecia) is identified with increasing thinning all over the scalp with noticeable reduced hair density along the frontal hairline and crown of the scalp.
The most common causes of this condition includes:
- abrupt hormonal changes (increase or decrease of estrogen aka female hormones due to pregnancy, contraceptive pills)
- diet deficiency of iron and protein (usually caused by excessive menstrual flow)
- stress (can be physical or emotional)
- pollution
- prolong intake of strong medication
- sudden weight loss
- the use of unsuitable hair care products

On the other hand, hair loss can also be affected by other factors such as cosmetics reasons like hair dyeing, bleaching, hot curling, tight braiding which could contribute to overall hair thinning. Another factor is of course by aging, where the rate of hair growth slows down, hair gradually becomes thin and the overall hair density eventually reduces.

The good news though is that hair loss can be treated. ^_^

My hair analysis
Below shows my scalp & hair analysis by Training & Events Manager, Nora Tien using a hair and scalp scanner analyzer. (I can be serious-looking when comes to hair topic. Lolx~)

The analyzer magnifies the image of my scalp and hair. In the pic below, it clearly shows that I have an oily scalp (see the glossy areas, that is basically the sebum reflecting the light) with very thin hair (smaller hair diameter than most people) which I actually already knew since young ^_^. Hence that's also the reason why I don't do hair rebond and I love volumnizing hair products.
More often than not, sweaty scalp can be mistaken as oily scalp because both could make the hair look oily and flat.

For every healthy hair follicle (the pores on our scalp), there should be 2-4 strands of hair growing out from each follicle. As for my case, it range from 1 to 3 hair strands for each follicle, which is still considered rather ok.

On some parts of my scalp, there are little flakes which are actually dandruff (shown below at bottom right of the image). It is however not a major issue to me because I seldom have dandruff problems unless I just bleached or dyed my hair. Dandruff are actually large clumps of flakes and flakes are skin that shed prematurely and being built up on our scalp. Such condition are usually caused by inflammations on the scalp.
I have several clogged pores found too during the analysis, these are commonly caused by the ingredient silicone (non-water soluble type. Read more about silicone in shampoos) from the hair products we use. Clogged pores can lead to hair thinning because hair follicle cannot build new hair when the 'entrance' is blocked.

The back of my head is however not doing so well because I'm diagnosed with an aging scalp! On this area, the scalp appears less oily and has a uneven surface.

For my scalp condition, it is diagnosed with both oily & aging scalp, clogged pores and thinning hair.
Besides the above conditions, I also have receding hairline.Well, that simply explains that I am aging already... lolx~
With the hair expert's explanations, I now know that most mass brand products do not use water soluble silicone. With silicone in shampoos and conditioners, yes it could make our hair look shiny, silky and frizz-free, but at the same time it could clog our hair follicles resulting to hair thinning problems.
Because our face and scalp shares the same skin, hence using non-comedogenic skincare and makeup (such as containing mineral oils) along our hairline could also do the same to that area.
