Review: BRAND’S® InnerShine® Marine Collagen Essence Strip
6 weeks ago, I started consuming Brand's InnerShine Marine Collagen Essence Strips. Supposedly this should be finished within 1.5 weeks time but I ate it sparingly and finally at my last strip after 2 to almost 3 weeks just because it is too yummy! I can't bare to finish them at one go. ^,^"

Through the application of enzymatic hydrolysis technology, a process that breaks down the complex structures of collagen to release inherent peptides, the collagen peptides found in InnerShine® Marine Collagen Essence Strip possess a low molecular weight of only 3,000 Dalton in average. At such a size, collagen is more readily digested by the body to trigger the release of the essential building blocks for new collagen fibers in skin, in turn optimizing its efficacy in improving skin health. The process also helps to improve the palatability of InnerShine® Marine Collagen Essence Strip.
InnerShine® Marine Collagen Essence Strip is manufactured in Japan in compliance with the Food Sanitation Act.
It is recommended that adults consume two InnerShine® Marine Collagen Essence Strips daily, preferably once in the morning with your daytime skincare regimen and once more in the evening with your nighttime skincare regimen.
Packaging & Ingredients
In lovely sweet pink packaging for both the box and the strips. All information and instructions are already written on the box itself.
Total of 10 strips per box. Each strip is 12Kcal (kilocalories) only. If I take 2 stripes, it would be 12x2=24Kcal per day. A woman should take about 1500-2000Kcal (depends on age,weight,height) per day so 12Kcal is actually very small amount! Provided that I don't eat other kinds of high calorie foods on top of this otherwise I be soon growing meat all over..., which I guess I actually did grew since I don't really count my calories when I'm eating. Lolx~
Anyhoo to those who count your calories, you know what I'm saying yah. Eat this and minus one dessert. ^_~ To calculate your calories, check your BMR.
After opening the box, you can seal it up again for keeping~
This strips are easy to tear off at the side (with the word OPEN written there), there is no need to use scissors! I like how things are designed to make me even more lazy. Lolx~
Consist of Natural Kyoto Grape Taste, the colour is close to the skin of the red grape fruits I often eat~ I would thought that any grape flavoured products would taste... well, weird to my tongue. To me, grape flavoured food & drinks often don't taste like or even close to a real grape. (Duh! lolx~) I am a very picky person, I have so much food that I don't eat or prefer not to even taste them. But for this, I had to try because I want to try taking in collagen (I usually take detox) and since this is made in Japan I guess it won't taste too odd yah? You know Japan is famous for their desserts, sweets and stuffs like that and I love love love their puddings! Hahahax~ Ok enough nonsense.. (lolx~)
Review
- strip is easy to open just by tearing
- easy to dispense just by pressing & squeezing out the jelly from bottom of the strip
- doesn't mess or dirty my hands as the jelly contains no liquid
- jelly taste smooth & soft, nice to chew on just like chewing a real grape but more bounce to it
- jelly taste sour and sweet at the same time
- doesn't taste too sour as the sweetness balanced out the overall taste, to me its very yummy!
- doesn't taste weird, a little close to the red grape kind of taste
- great to have it as a dessert after meal
- very small & slim strips, very convenient to bring along with
- definitely better & tastier than pills (I don't like to eat pills unless if its gel types ^_^")
After having it for 2 to almost 3 weeks with 1 strip every alternate day. Usually have it every evening before sleeping or after dinner and I find....
- skin feel more radiant & smoother
- skin has more elasticity, obvious results were shown on my face especially on the laugh lines where it just disappears!
- my skin feels a little more plumped and slightly more bouncy
- even though my sleeping hours are still odd (sleep in morning, wake up in afternoon/evening) my skin didn't show signs of fatigue or look dull
- skin has no reaction towards the ingredient used in the product (no breakouts)
After finishing the strips, the next 2 weeks (stopped all kinds of collagen intake) I find...
- continue to sleep & wake up at odd hours and this time I find my face shows signs of tiredness
- skin starts to look dull and dark
- the bouncy skin is gone!
- skin looks abit sagging which leads to the pores on my cheeks enlarged and appear obvious
- my smile lines sunkened
- visible laugh lines starts to form
- no matter which skincare I switch to, it didn't bring back the smooth radiant skin I had when I was having the collagen essence strip
- start having a little oil spots along my jawline and neck
In the beginning where I had the strips continuously for about 5 days, I thought that there wasn't much difference on my skin. Then I took it on alternate days, and I find my skin getting slightly better. My skin goes on for about 1 month looking pretty nice & smooth~ Until 2 weeks after I finished the last strip, my skin starts to look dull, dark circles look even darker.
Recently my combination skin starts to grow tiny oil spots like little pimples again. (which happens often to me when my health isn't good)
Now I kinda feel that the difference was actually pretty great comparing now and before! Thinking back, my skin was actually great for that past 1 month! I had no oil spots, looks radiant and bright no matter before or after washing my face.
I feel that it could be the result from the ingredient Vitamin E which is an anti-oxidant, helps protect my skin from free radicals (anti-dullness) as well as Vitamin B3 that inhibits inflammation, protects skin from UV damage and might even reduce sebum production.
Besides the Marine Collagen Essence Strip, I am also taking multi-Vitamins daily and that perhaps adds up and gave me good health plus good skin. ^_^
I am so going back to taking collagen supplements after this!
