Review: Mentholatum Deep Moist‏ Natural in New Packaging

The #1 Top Selling Lip Balm in Japan - Mentholatum Deep Moist now comes in a NEW packaging!

About Mentholatum Deep Moist
Deep Moist was launched in 2008 in Japan and has seen tremendous success and popularity there. It quickly became top selling lip balms in Japan’s lip care market. This strengthened Mentholatum Lip Balm Brand leadership as the #1 Top Selling Lip Balm brand in Japan* (2006 to 2009). The success of Deep Moist is due to 2 main factors, its premium hydrating ingredients at value pricing, and its elegant, ergonomic packaging design.

The success of Deep Moist is due to 2 main factors, its premium hydrating ingredients at value pricing, and its elegant, ergonomic packaging design.
a. The key moisturizing ingredients in Deep Moist lip balms are:
- Hyaluronic Acid, a premium ingredient that forms a smooth, moisture locking shield for softer, smoother lips.  It can hold 1000X its weight in water, or 6 litres of water with just 1g.
- Shea Butter heals the skin, and gives a soft, pleasant texture to the lip balm.
- Jojoba Oil gives pro-longed, whole day hydration to the lips.
b. The Deep Moist lip balm comes in an innovative Emerald Green, oval-shaped container design that fits the corner of the mouth well and makes it easy to apply with a single swipe. A Japanese consumer commented, “This oval-shaped design fits the corner of my mouth so well that the Deep Moist lip balm can be applied easily without affecting the foundation near my mouth.”

Packaging
Instead of its previous version coloured in green (See my Review), the new packaging now comes in all deep blue. The new colour kind of emphasizes its ultra hydrating lipbalm with hyaluronic acid properties.
This lipbalm is without any fragrance, hence named - Natural. 無香料 in Japanese means No Fragrance or Unscented. Besides the mentioned Hyaluronic Acid, Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter, it also contains pretty high percentage of Avocado Oil.
Expire date is pasted on the back of the packaging.

Product
Deep blue design looks so pretty~ Lipbalm is 4.5g

Comparing it to the old version of Deep Moist - Menthol (Yes I still have it, dug it out of my vanity! Lolx~). The new version stands out a lot more now with the word 'Deep Moist'

Same oval shape design as it fits the corner of the lips easily without affecting the foundation around it.

Swatch
Deep Moist Natural swatched on the right side of the back of my hand. (Notice the gloss)

Lip Swatch
My lips had been really dry these few weeks and I kept using Deep Moist lipbalm to hydrate them.
See how obvious the lip lines on my lips are? >_<"
*pls excuse for my pigmented lips ^_^"

Close-up. The wrinkly areas & lip lines disappeared right after I applied the lipbalm.

Review
- totally no fragrance at all
- glides on the lips smoothly (kind of different feel now compare to the previous version where I had trouble gliding it against my dry lips)
- oval shape lipbalm reaches the corner of the mouth easily
- instant moisture and soothes dry, chapped lips and fills in lip lines
- lips look a little more plumped and definitely look less wrinkly
- instantly gives shine to my lips
- when I press my lips, it feels a bit greasy
- the lipbalm can last me about 2-3 hours if without drinking/eating
- when used before sleep, I will woke up with normal dry lips again
- great 'base' for lipsticks so that the lipsticks won't make my lips more dry
- no irritation or itchiness on my lips (my lips are very sensitive)
Not much difference from the previous Deep Moist I'd used before actually. ^_^ If to choose Menthol or Natural, I prefer the Natural because it doesn't feel like I am applying anything at all as it's unscented.
